Do you think I'm a jerk? - Progressive Rock Music Forum

This is something I would have asked a long time ago back when I cared way more about what people thought of me than I do now. Personally, I've been called pretty much every name in the book as have a lot of us. Asking if people think you are a jerk or not is a step in the right direction as far as self improvement goes (something I don't see at all from some of the other users on here). However, at the same time it can be viewed as attention seeking and even antagonizing. If you don't think you are a jerk than what does it matter? And if you do then try to do something about it. Go to a therapist or do a search online on how to be a better person. Jerks are typically (imo) very selfish people so strive to be more understanding and less selfish.

So anyway, no I didn't vote but my opinion is similar to David's in that I don't know you (or your posts) well enough to make an informed decision regarding your stature as a jerk. Good luck though.

We generally view those on the other side of an argument as jerks. It's our binary nature. Occasionally, our views are correct.

I haven't voted on this, but I will tell you, in a nutshell, the issue you have is about boundaries, and knowing when you have crossed them....I am not a registered therapist, so I will not elaborate further, other than that if you have annoyed someone, you need to be aware of when that has occurred, and why, and learn from it....

I do think that you often are a lot more rude than what the situation calls for, but I honestly didn't have a real problem with you until you decided that it was a good idea to berate people for not engaging sufficiently with this self-indulgent sobfest of a thread

My english is certainly no worse than yours. Don't play on words with the two meanings of "jerk". You clearly meant it as an insult and not a sudden uncontrolled movement. It was totally uncalled for on a thread that had been dormant for 6 weeks until someone made an uneeded comment

Apologizing everytime doesn't erase what was said. Forgive doesn't mean forget, especially that new incidents keep happening.

For this thread, you didn't need to mention me in the OP, and if you'd abstained, I wouldn't be here chewing the fat with you.

There's no context here, but Mike's post was a heavy personal attack.

Hrychu managed to change the offensive picture of the Swedish band A being thrown into the garbage (on his own account, it was a racist drawing) and I said it was thoughless of him (as usual) and Mike agreed and they took onto each other. It's that much weirder that he managed that the original picture I quoted has also changed.

Repeated small incidents make bigger ones out of accumulation.

It's rather fine you (Hrychu) question yourself, though (if that's your real intent, but let me wonder), but you didn't need to carry it out in public, involving me.
