Impressive, indeed, but I think Rick's gotten rid of more 'boards. |

Paul Ward, with an impressive display of keyboards that would make Rick Wakeman jealous. And the only track currently available on YouTube from Paul Ward's For a Knave album. |

^ I also have a couple of CD albums by Michael Shipway (purchased from Midas Records in Derby), including Beneath Folly.

Yeah, the Assembly Rooms, where Shreeve recorded his live album Collide! I liked Paul Ward's For a Knave a lot. I had all of Pickford's up through Lughnasad. I corresponded with him a couple times and he sent me a dub of a prerelease mix. I didn't know Jonn Serrie played out there, too. I love his early works. |

Derby was the electronic music capital of the world back in the late 1980's and 90's when they hosted the annual EMMA festival. These are just some of the electronic artists I've seen play Live in Derby in the mid-1990's:- Ian Boddy John Dyson Robert Fox Ed Alleyne Johnson Paul Nagle Andy Pickford John Serrie Mark Shreeve Paul Ward Bekki Williams David Wright

I remember Bekki from the "new wave" of UK EM in the '90s, when I also listened to Mark Shreeve and Wavestar (started with them in '88), and then found Ian Boddy, Michael Shipway, Williams and a few others. Cool times.

It's nice to see some Love for Bekki Williams, bearing in mind I'm the only one who votes for her in these polls and with Edge of Human being her fourth and final album. Bekki lives locally in Derbyshire and she was the last artist I ever went to see play Live in concert (in Derby) way back in the mid-1990's.

I've actually only heard one of these albums, giving it a vote, and it's not Robert Wyatt. It's Kevin Ayers's The Unfairground. My favourite in PA is not in the list. It's William D. Drake's Briny Hooves. An album I adore. My other favourite solo is not in PA, but one that would interest many fans of progressive/art music, PJ Harvey's White Chalk. Two of my very favourite albums there. A track I have shared many times ("Seahorse" off Briny Hooves if anyone can't see it or it becomes unavailable): EDIT: I just listened to and liked that Bekki Williams track you posted. I was very into New Age music in the late 80s and 90s especially. Edited by Logan - August 04 2024 at 11:13 |

Wakeman's Retro 2. With a pocket full of algebra, and a suit shaped like a spoon, I merged into the Henderson stack.

I can't wait for the 2008 variation of this poll, so I can finally proudly cast my vote on The Old Road by Martin Orford. ;p
