Caravan. That debut album from 1968 is a superb gem of the early Canterbury scene, showcasing Richard Sinclair's enchanting vocals, lovely tunes featuring flute, and that dreamy and pastoral atmosphere, while simultaneously marking the first-ever printed mention of the term "progressive rock" in its liner notes, making it both a musical and historical milestone for the genre.

I think a top five by me would look like this:

1 Soft Machine - Volume Two
1 Arzachel - Arzachel
3 Caravan - Caravan
3 Kevin Ayers - Joy of a Toy
5 Soft Machine - The Soft Machine

Arguably the Soft Machine debut was the first Canterbury album, recorded in NYC!

Kevin Ayers for me... a very quirky album.
Is it any wonder that the monkey's confused?

I love Arzachel more than the others. Yogsototh is the only HP Lovecraft inspired song that really makes it.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Arzachel aren't officially listed as Canterbury Scene either, but they're just too good to leave out. Smile
