What specifically is surprising? Not much different style than Soft Machine, Planet X, or Gong.

King Crimson unsurprisingly leads the letter; Discipline is one of my top 3 of all time albums.

I also have 12 albums by Kong (probably as many as all other forum members combinedTongue; that's their whole regular discography plus cutting room floor/live/remix albums for fans); they are very consistent quality-wise and I love pretty much all their albums equally, so I'll nominate their 2023 effort Traders of Truth. So happy to still see them on the ball after all these years!

And then there's a whopping 8 by Karda Estra with Eve being their best.
