Hi, The one thing that is most important about these covers, just like the ones from HIPGNOSIS, made you want to go check the music out ... these days, that is something that most fans never saw or experienced, and folks end up falling for a name/title that does not have one third the impression that this art showed so many folks. It is one thing that is sad for me these days, that rock music disdains almost all art, and at least seeing another cover on a YES album is something ... but, in general, a lot of the stuff in the past 20 years, does not have as much "artistic" ideas and designs, as so much of the music did between 55 and 40 years ago. The cassette days, started killing the art, and then the CD completely wiped it out, and because the CD's were really cheap to make, many folks didn't bother wasting money ... a few bands did some nice stuff, but I can not really name you one or two that showed their "music" and "meddle/metal" in the art itself ... and to be honest with you, it's sad. Everything from the days of Hipgnosis and Roger Dean, and many others in California, pretty much told you it was all AN ART Scene ... and here we are 50 some years later, and we still don't think of it ... as the pure, true art that it was!

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

This reminded me of the thread I once made about Roger Dean's artwork.
Many favourite ones, but one would be Blue Desert (ABWH cover).

^^ Thanks Cristi! I didn't even notice the badgers on the smaller image. That would've given me a big clue as to who the album's by.

I feel a bit sheepish to admit I don't recognise that album cover or have any idea who the artist is. |

Hi, You folks want to get THE ALBUM COVER BOOK for its pictures .... and lots of Roger Dean. Hard to believe that it is something like 30 years old already, that book! But, goodness, does it ever have covers in it! |
