This was part one of 23 part series of albums that are included in both Prog Archives and RateYourmusic, and with another topic on "prog" albums in RYM, I thought I would revive this.

Really pleased to see SEBTP thumping the vastly overrated CTTE for once….at the moment 🤞😉😂

These would all be contenders for me: Radiohead - OK Computer Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven! Yes - Close to the Edge Sigur Rós - Ágætis byrjun Frank Zappa - Hot Rats Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick Kraftwerk - Die Mensch-Maschine Camel - Mirage But if I really had to choose just one, then I'd go with my first love and the amazing compositions and playing on Close To The Edge.

Yes, 30 votes so far and not one for King Crimson's debut. Amazing! I could understand it if it was Larks' Tongues in Aspic in the poll instead.

I find it quite shocking that KC does not have a vote yet.

This is a super strong list, with Herbie Hancock, I would have preferred it to be the next ranked album with Sextant (I think it was, love that and Crossings).
For this list, I particularly love (in RYM ranking order): Radiohead - OK Computer Godspeed You Black Emperor! - Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven! Miles Davis - In a Silent Way Kate Bush - Hounds of Love Björk - Vespertine Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind Talk Talk - Laughing Stock Can - Future Days Comus - First Utterance Kraftwerk - Die Mensch-Maschine This Heat - Deceit But I really liked and have loved many more albums in this poll. It really is an impossible choice, but this year especially Soundtracks for the Blind has been such an important album to me that I will give it a vote -- hardly an auto-vote, however. It's a really long album that I find really satisfying. |

This is a ridiculously strong list with some 5-10 albums that I'd rank top in most polls where they appear. I'd be very happy to vote for Kraftwerk or This Heat, who don't appear that often, however I will vote honestly and Laughing Stock is a top 5 of all time album.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
