 In no particular order:

Marillion - Clutching at Straws ("Sugar Mice", unbeatable)
Pink Floyd - A Momentary Lapse of Reason ("On the Turning Away", one of the best compositions without Waters)
Rush - Hold Your Fire ("Time Stand Still", "Prime Mover" and "Mission", very good songs)
Jethro Tull - Crest of a Knave ("Budapest", brilliant composition that could be on any of their best albums without any problem)
YES - Big Generator (It's not the classic Yes, but for me it's underrated, I really like "Shoot High Aim Low" and "Holy Lamb")

I should've known I was Clutching at Straws by hoping for Pink Floyd to win this poll ahead of the mighty Marillion. Embarrassed

The best (and possibly only) Canterbury Scene band from Japan, which is about as far from Canterbury in relative terms as the brightest star Sirius is from the Sun.  Smile

That Geoff Downes album is a fabulous recording.
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

t's good to see a second vote for TD's under-appreciated Tyger album, when I was beginning to wonder if anyone else would vote for it. Thumbs Up

Drew's (BrufordFreak's) series of polls for the same years feature some of the more offbeat albums which I didn't have room to include in my polls. Wink

^ Yes, that's why I said "in my view". It might be the worst line-up of albums ever in someone else's view. Tongue

The only one I really know well is Yes' BG. Despite the stick it gets, I like it especially the original album side 2, so I went for that.

Swans Children of God is a favorite. Other than that I don't enjoy much with a PA-relevance. These three would complete a personal top five:

Azanyah - The One
The Sisters of Mercy - Floodland
Roberto Laneri - Anadyomene

I almost threw Floodland into my poll! Don't know the other two.
