I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Thank you! I had the impression that they're kind of symphonic/metallic, which is a combination I usually steer away from, and that this track might be an anomaly. Will have to listen to some of their other stuff at some point.
Haha, the video is just brilliant! There's a bit of Queen vibe in the track, actually.

Cockroach King is the quirkiest track I've heard of theirs (with some Gentle Giant influence) but I haven't listened to any of their recent albums yet, so maybe there's something else. Most Haken tracks have a large symphonic metal sound. The muppet vid for CK with the band imitating Queen a little, is very popular; check it out: Edited by zwordser - June 04 2022 at 07:56 |

Haken track was very good and I almost regret I didn't vote it.
How representative of them in general is this track? I especially liked the quirkiness in the middle and would be curious to check them out further if they have more stuff like that.

Pretty good selection. The favourite Area track has some difficulties to win this as the Primus and Haken tracks are so good, the fourth one is not bad either. Eventually I still go with Area.

I chose Arbeit Macht Frei after giving it another good listen. What a great track! Love that building, emotional jazziness. Close second is Haken-- sometime in the past I might have chosen it, but it has grown slightly old for me. Third, a really good performance, IMO, of A Time and a Place. Fourth for me is Primus; not bad, but I've never gotten into them much.

Only Area and Primus do it for me from this shuffle, so it is between those two. I’ve given it to Primus, just because I don’t see them often mentioned in the forum. (Or, at least, not as often as Area.)

Decided to squeeze another RS in before the Spring Runoff. Please Note: The Time and a Place track is NOT ELP. It is on an ELP tribute album with various artists (called Encores, Legends, & Paradox,..., see video below). I'm pretty sure the vocalist is James Labrie, but I don't know if other members of Dream Theater are included, or what (please comment if you know). Shuffle of around 14000 tracks yielded the following: Edited by zwordser - June 03 2022 at 13:29 |
