^Kyuss is great! I saw you had listed Sky Valley and that one is a favorite is well. I first heard Kyuss (known as Sons of Kyuss) when they opened for Masters of Reality (also made my 15 albums of the 90s). That must have been 1991 as it was right when Ginger Baker joined Masters of Reality.

Some great lyrics:
Moloko - "Where Is the What if the What Is in Why?" (excerpt) What is a god of phoney creation, Where am I going with no destination, What if the fish came from the sea, What if my lover made me feel free, What if my intake caused revelation, What if the point was reincarnation, What if my shoes don't match my jacket, If it's not working why don't you smack it, (from the album Do You Like My Tight Sweater? (1995))

Bucks Fizz is pop music in both senses - it's the name of a pop band and it's also fizzy pop. ![]() ![]() |

Maybe I should have made it an A-Z list, then I could've included another ten albums in my list.

Thank you very much, Paul. I know, this kind of list is not easy for you if it's not an A-Z list - which of course is difficult itself. ![]() Edited by David_D - May 25 2022 at 09:14 |

Music
vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.

Rock music is a
broad genre of popular music that originated as "rock and roll" in the
United States in the late 1940s and early 1950s, developing into a range
of different styles in the mid-1960s and later, particularly in the
United States and the United Kingdom. Now let us discuss this "rock" thing!

I don't think anyone needs to be explained what grunge is.

AllMusic about Grunge:
"Pop/Rock » Alternative/Indie Rock » GrungeUsing the sludgy, murky sound of the Stooges and Black Sabbath as a foundation, Grunge was a hybrid of heavy metal and punk. Though the guitars were straight from early '70s metal, the aesthetic of grunge was far from metal. Both the lyrical approach and musical attack of grunge were adopted from punk, particularly the independent ideals of early '80s American hardcore. The first wave of grunge bands -- Green River, Mudhoney, Soundgarden -- were heavier than the second, which began with Nirvana. Nirvana was more melodic than their predecessors and they also had signature stop-start dynamics, which became a genre convention nearly as recognizable as fuzzy, distorted guitars. After Nirvana crossed over into the mainstream, grunge lost many of its independent and punk connections and became the most popular style of hard rock in the '90s." ^I think I've even contributed to it. It won't change my mind as to whether I think simply copying and
pasting a basic wikipedia (or something similar) articles about a genre without
some kind of angle to it - is a good basis for a(ny) discussion. Having a
personal opinion of sorts that's written in your own words - will give you a much more fruitful response than the one you got from me.

I've thought this would be good as a little theme in this thread, and as a follow up to some discussion in the Punk thread, if you haven't seen it.

I wouldn't say, they say the same things, and they're from different sources, which is important when discussing the existence and character of Grunge.
