Physical Graffiti - The Writing's on the Wall for one amazing night when Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow meets Tchaikovsky, and thankfully, the mellowed-out minstrel no longer smashes up his guitar at the end of a live performance. Smile

IMHO his guitar talents , at times, were never really used well with them and for me DP had a few nice tracks here and there but were never a great songwriting band. Rainbow might have had more 'going on' (that's open for argument), but they also seemed very run of the mill to me with their songs. The songs never appealed to me. AOR for the most part.

He met the pretty blond lady, was tired of his ears bleeding, and the rest is history or herstory as you will.

Makes perfect sense to me. After all, why would Ritchie Blackmore still want to be playing Deep Purple and Rainbow songs well into his 60's & 70's when he's already been there and done that.  Smile

^ In Ritchie Blackmore's own words, he plays the same Rainbow riffs with Blackmore's Night, only he plays them quietly now. Tongue

I'll post a couple of favourite songs/videos from two albums at a time, as listening to ten Blackmore's Night albums all in a row will be a bit too much for one listening session. Smile

It was certainly beginning to look that way until you came along and saved this thread from disappearing off the prog radar. Smile

I haven't listened to any of Blackmore's Night's albums all the way through, so this thread will give me the opportunity to do precisely that to pick my favourite songs. Smile
