Well Hi guys,
How funny, just passing by to find one of my (very) scarce posts replied to. Just to comment nowadays I use the Opera browser and it has this awesome 'Force dark theme on pages' feature.. problem solved, even for rebellious ones.. On the tablet at night, I use the Internet Browser (you know, the one with the saturn-like icon that comes pre-installed, at least on samsung devices I think, oldie ones at that), it also has the same thing.. sleek. I have been thinking of making another post (for the next 4 years ) in this section.. this one was gonna be about putting an 'anchor' at the "Latest posts" section, so you can bookmark ProgArchives page with the anchor included so that you can jump directly to the section.. (the aforementioned section is one I use most..) well, someone may say that could be to the disadvantage of the other sections.. but each one could have its own anchor. ^Yes there are. Three bright, one dark. I can't 100% vouch for my memory on the matter, but I think a change was brought up before but wasn't approved by Max. I would certainly prefer dark myself. But really, dark themes are available for most browsers anyway.

I think there are about four choices for backgrounds somewhere in the admin zone.

Stylus is very hard to use. I downloaded it and right off the bat I had no idea what I was doing!!!!

I second that! Please make it happen! The current bright as heck default theme just annihilates my eyes.

It's not difficult to implement, but there haven't really been any improvements to the site in years so I wouldn't hold my breath.

It would be cool if Prog Archives could have a nice 'dark theme' for some nite-proggin' I don't know if this has already been requested/evaluated before, but I did a search and was surprised at not finding any… (so, sorry if it has!) For those of you who are not familiar with this feature, it is only an optional choice some sites/apps have, usually in the form of a link at the bottom of the page, that one often chooses when navigating the site at night for a less eye-strain experience (less contrast). This way it is easier on the eyes… sometimes after a day's work and to not wake a toddler , for that peaceful moment on a tablet. Perhaps it also could increase the site's traffic if it encourages more users to visit at night. I know that some browsers have options to cope with this, but even so, I don't know if all of them have them, if they work a 100% well for all cases or if they're fully automatic; and I think it would be an asset for the site since not all browsers have the option… sometimes one changes browsers, visit the site on different devices, tablets, etc. I don't think that, compared to other features, it should be extremely difficult to implement, but don't know. By the way, let me tell you, I really like Prog Archives current theme and style! It seems sober and fast-loading to me... so good work there! |
