Hi,
Now that I am retired and have a little more time, I probably could help a little ... but it looks to me that there are way too many "collaborators" that are more interested in silly arguments, and a good MUSIC discussion. I don't discuss top ten! I discuss "progressive music" ... but if you are not a "progressive" person, I doubt that some of the music is as meaningful, to even help a place like this one, that deserves it!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Hi Jaketejas, Eclectic are in a pretty good place at the moment with only 5 bands needing bios & none of those having been on the list that long. As suggested above it would probably help to look for bands with old and inaccurate existing bios that need updating. I'd start with less well known bands that you know well and see what you find. Thanks for the offer.

3 questions
What is the process? For example, I emailed the person who is listed as leading the Eclectic Prog team (Epi) to find out which ones are in the greatest need but he isn't involved in it anymore. He sent me back to you Tapfret. Should I update existing ones or focus on the backlog of new bands? That seems to be the bigger issue. Is biography submission done here on PA or on the Progfreak site? I was thinking to go on Progfreak and add bios of new bands there. Thanks! |

Hi, Gary, it's super that you are motivated to help and we are in great need of biographies updating - there are tons of awful incomplete/outdated/incorrect info which give me great pains to ignore (sometime ago tried to launch a coordinated task force to address this but we had a very limited success). So, if you want to start helping here's some sources for info research: Then, depending on the country of origin there are plenty other sources (besides the band's own webpage/facebook, of course) so it's better, if in need, you ask for clues case by case.

Thank you for the suggestions. Is it better to work off this site or the Progfreak site?

I would say in general there have been times that the backlog was much worse than it is now. Not to say that it's ever completely caught up.
For the most (or all) part this is a volunteer operation. So I would say to put your best foot forward as a volunteer, go to the Suggest New Bands thread and if you see some old bands that don't appear to have been resolved, inquire as to their status and if they are cleared, offer to submit a bio. Probably a good place to start (besides posting your interest, as you have done here) is writing a few reviews so site collaborators have an idea of your writing style and commitment. That's where most collabs get started. |

How bad is the PA 'new bands' backlog and what can folks do to help? Also, what is the greatest need on PA right now and where should we go to find out more info?
