For closed heaphones under $100 I'd probably go with the Status Audio CB-1 (polyvalent) or the Audio Technica ATH-M40X (analytical).

I'm looking for headphones that correspond to a few criteria:
-good sound quality
-comfortable
-blocks out outside sound
-less than one hundred dollars

These headphones most likely won't leave my house. I'll most likely use them to play a lot of ambient and minimalistic music, for recording, and for self-hypnotism (really interesting stuff).

That said, I'm not looking for headphones geared towards minimalism; maybe detail, but not minimalism.

After all, I'm a big fan of practically everything... I'll end up listening to some brutal metal or hard prog, pop or avant-garde craziness.
