The second of two pop queens of the Soviet music. She started from singing folk-inspired music. In the 1970s she performed many songs written by a Ukrainian composer Volodymyr Ivasyuk.

I suggest the official vinyl LP made in 1977 that translates in English as "Sofia Rotaru sings the songs by Volodymyr Ivasyuk". You can listen to the whole album here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkS2U247Epo

While the first song sounds like standard rhythmic orchestrated pop, my personal feeling is that the rest of the songs have a very obvious prog touch to them.

She sings in Ukrainian and the melodies have some Ukrainian folk background.
