Have to go with the popular take. An Inmate's Lullaby

This is one of my very favourite Gentle Giant albums.

This is a rare GG album where I couldn't choose a track -- every one is special and adds well to the textures of the whole to me. Picking up on some comments: I love the xylophone in An Inmate's Lullaby, Way of Life is not irritating to me, it's one of GG's very best songs to me (took me a while to fully love it), and Reunion is so beautiful (such a pretty song).

'Inmate's Lullaby but it still fits in with the scheme of the album. Couldn't be replaced.

I love reunion.
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

This is one of those '6 out of 5's' for me. But the track I find a touch weaker, is A Reunion, though it is very pretty. This album blows me away with every listen to this day ( got it mid-90's, thereabouts), as do all their albums before this one.

The 2nd half of the title track is pretty dated

oh god that is easy... GG uncorked some stinkers in their later post-Phil years.. but none was the steaming pile of sh*t that Way of Life was.... enough to knock a 4 star album down to 3 star according to the Encyclopedia Mickia.

I love the whole thing, one of my favorite albums. If I had to choose I think I'd choose An Inmates Lullaby.

Okay, if it weren't for the xylophone on Inmates Lullaby I would love it to death. But because of the cool parts it does get the edge over A Reunion, which is a bit bland to me.

I like Inmate's Lullaby and respect it for trying something different.... but it's not entirely successful.

A Reunion
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.
