Blur, Radiohead and The Verve are the only BritPop that I actually
like! Coldplay, as everyone MUST know, it's a poor man's Radiohead.
This make the band somewhat tolerable. They create some strong
melodies, but, overall, it's pretty BORING.

I actually prefer X&Y compared to the first two albums, it seems less poppy and more rockyer to me, which i prefer.
It's all a matter of taste..

Is the word boring been used already, since I like to be the first to utter the word.
complete boring tripe, not one good second on it, though when I hear the single on the radio, I kind of liked it, but that's only 2 minutes, repeated at nauseam on the album.
maybe people who find Radiohead to complicated will find some value it it, but I can't hear it.

Coldplay is probably the most overhyped band on the market today.
I liked them a lot better the first time around when they were called
Radiohead.
ZING!

I'd go with "Close to The Edge" personally.

I think it's really awesome (with the exception of tracks 7-10 which get really boring and repetitive after listening straight to them)

They need to branch out more...there is very little progression in their
albums 1-3. I'm not saying a band has to change their entire style all the
time to be relevant, but Coldplay really ploughs the same turf over and
over (and over) again...
Having said that, I find them inoffensive and don't mind when the wife
puts the albums on.
Rush of Blood will probably remain their best, unless they produce a work
of genius in the future. They'd better expand their listening habits beyond
U2, New Order and Radiohead, though. Someone send them The Lamb
Lies Down on Broadway right away!

Well, I thought the album had breif moments of good stuff, nothing
outstanding. What I do like is that MTV is enjoying Speed of Sound
which might lead MTV watchers to buy that album and previous ones.
Coldplay might have saved america from bad music! But no... .

Don't even get me started on Coldplay- I find them one of the most overhyped bands EVER, as people are giving them 5 star reviews blindly and coming out with 'amazing' every time they are mentioned. I find them morose, depressing and dull- like a poor man's Radiohead.

I like X&Y a lot better than A Rush of Blood to the Head, but not as much as Parachutes

Good but overhyped. I still prefer their first album.

I find it very hard to listen to the whole album in one sitting. After "Speed of Sound", the songs all begin to sound exactly the same and run together as a blur. I never have this problem with aRoBttH. However, the songs that are actually good on X&Y are very enjoyable, and have a much spacier feel than their previous works. Standout tracks: Square One, What If, Fix You, Speed of Sound, and Talk.

I can't believe the acclaim this record and this band are getting. "one of greatest albums ever", nope, don't think so. Chris Martin needs a good slapping for the way he sings. I hear his mother sits inside his piano to blow his nose and wipe his botty for him!
Seriously though, it is probably catchy for today's mainstream music fan, but it has no lasting content or anything that will endure. His voice just sucks big time as well; I hate that whiney way he sings.

"X & Y" is somewhat disappointing. The first two albums were much better than this one.

Its pretty good, square one is probably my favourite coldplay track, not as strong as A Rush of Blood to the Head but a decent album.

i loved Parachutes and A Rush of Blood to the Head, but the new one
does absolutely nothing for me. there's nothing new, it's just boring.
i'd have really liked to see Coldplay actually take a new direction and
release something fresh and interesting, guess that won't happen.
