(almost) This I prefer the 30+ minute version of Moonloop from Transmission IV.
Then again, I pretty much love every option in this poll.
|
Dave that really is a release I'd love to have. The only time I've ever seen it available it's been £120-130 or so, which is a bit excessive. I'll just have to keep watching out for it, the two versions on TSMS will just have to do for now.
I just love that era of PT.

I know, the pricing of it these days is absolutely ridiculous. Reissue would be nice methinks.

It's nice to see Arriving Somewhere but Not Here leading in this poll. Excellent song from the start to the end.

I'm very much like that myself.

Eh eh. Yep, space/psychedelic PT is what makes it for me. Sure, I like every period, even parts of "The Accident", but the early years is where the good stuff's at. |
I feel the same. I love stuff like Nil Recurring and Deadwing too, but there's a certain je ne sais quoi about those early years that pips it for me.

Good to see some love for their early releases. Never heard that one though, but I'll sure check it out I voted for 'The Sky Moves Sideways'

Gonna sound like a damn hipster, but my favorite long composition by PT is The Cross/Hole/Yellow Hedgerow Dreamscape from Tarquin's Seaweed Farm. Love the Prince cover (which Steven apparently dislikes?) and the way it segues into a psychedelic guitar anthem. Fond memories of driving back from a PT concert with the car full of people who only knew the band's material post-In Absentia, putting on the tape and hear them cry in boredom.

Anesthetize.

Yeah, pretty much this. At 10:25 Buying New Sould would have easily gotten my vote.
I'll give my vote to "Russia on Ice" but I highly recommend "Recordings" to the original poster as both "Buying New Soul" and the extended "Even Less" are required listening in my mind.

Not overly long, but Not Beautiful Anymore is special too. I don't know what it is, but I can't rate any PT album below a 4 star. They are all excellent to brilliant. Fanboy alert !!!

Of that list....'Arriving Somewhere' , but there is an extended version of 'Even Less' that is one of my favorite long ones by them. Also a big fan of 'Dark Matter' from Signify which is over 8 minutes .

None of the above, but Where We Would Be comes to mind. Yeah it's not very long but it moves me.
