I never said it was their best album because it was proggy. You made that assumption, and it was faulty. No offense, but please learn to read what is written before you respond to it. |

Thanks akamaison. To Epignosis : as I mentioned some posts above, i am tired of all those "you know there is that pop band which released a proggy, prog-related [insert the word you want with "prog"] album, and this album is their best" (of course because it's more proggy than its predecessors). For example, Daniel Balavoine released a prog concept-album in the seventies, but it really pales to its synth-pop mastepiece which is 'sauver l'amour'.
Back to the topic. Listening to this (recorded more than 40 years after their debut album, and featuring some of the original members !!!) :

Thanks for the "new" country suggestions, the likes of which THIS REDNECK FROM NORTH CAROLINA has never heard. Get real. I make the statement that The Police have "semi-prog" songs and you get upset. What's wrong? I can show you semi-prog tracks from The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Charlie Daniels, and even Lynyrd Skynyrd, if you want. Edited by Epignosis - February 14 2010 at 16:40 |

ok, now we are playing on words...
I am just tired of all these "you know it's a pop band but they have one album that has prog elements", followed by "it's their best". As I mentioned once when you posted the cover of Skaldowie's 'Krywań Krywań', it's not my favourite of theirs, prefering their poppier 'Ty' and Wszystkim zakochanym'.
back to the topic :
a very smooth album : Henryk Miśkiewicz's 'Uniesienie' (jazz with a symphonic orchestra and a female vocalist)

Proggy does not mean prog, in case you have not noticed. But then, in Italy we have a saying that goes, the worst deaf person is the one who doesn't want to hear. |

So if a band isn't 70's Symphonic Progressive Rock, then they automatically have no prog credentials? Edited by J-Man - February 14 2010 at 15:57 |

Genesis and Yes definition of prog is quite a limited definition, don't you think?
If someone associates Prog with an album or song by a band that is not associated with Prog, does that mean it can't possibly be Prog? Edited by The Quiet One - February 14 2010 at 15:54 |

And just for the record, Police is NOT a prog band. They are moe linked to the punk movement than to the prog one.
