Btw, i noticed that Negura Bunget (they might be listed under "Extreme/Tech Metal" but it seems like "Black Metal" style bands get appreciation in this thread most of all) is releasing a new album and going on tour; yet, at the same time i read that the only remaining member since "Om" is the percussionist. Basically, they're an entirely new band now  Cry

Speaking of the Negura Bunget, i almost feel that they should be delivered from the clutches of the "Tech Metal" sub-genre. I don't think anyone would disagree that they sound just as much "Post Metal" as Wolves in the Throne Room. NB just seems so out of place besides band like Cynic, and people that are searching through the archives under "Post Metal" are missing out on a band that's likely very close to their taste range.

(mmm.... feels good to sport the "Post Rock Team" label Big smile  )
i heard NB's new album, but it is not as nearly great as OM, in fact,i was dissapoineted a lot . and yeah, it's completely new line up now except for the drummer. and yeah OM sounds much like WITTR, but NB first albums has a bit different  sound, more progressive black  then post metal, so i guess that is the reason why they are in tech/extreme and not in post metal.
and welcome to the team Smile

You guys will like, then, the Dordeduh album when it gets released. This is the band formed by the ex-NB guitarist and bassist. I posted 40 minutes worth of good quality YouTube videos from their debut concert, in the Tech/Extreme Appreciation Thread Star

I'm afraid to checou out the new NB album simply cause the only original member is the drummer. It's dumb thet he'd survive when he wasnt a guitar player singer or at least a keyboard player. I think it's bad taste.

Congrats dude!

You are in the right place dude, just stick to this thread and you will find loads of great bands. For a start try this ones: Godspeed You! Black EmperorGod Is An AstronautMogwaiExplosions In The SkyMono

Thanks! I've heard Mogwai's Young Team and EITS's All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone and they were both brilliant so I'll check them out more as well as the other recommendations. Smile

^ Whaa? Nothing i'd expect from those gents, i gotta go check this out.

About Cecilia Eye's, i hadn't heard them before, but they sound pretty nice. I really dig their taste in textures, but i'm not sure how i feel about them yet; "Shoegaze" tends to bore me quickly. Also, i like the new "My Education" better than their last album so far.

Well, it's super nice to see the GY!BE news. I know they've forged some beautiful stuff that they've never even put on an album, so hopefully they'll get inspired enough to compose an entire new album. Hopefully one of the "9 towns" they plan on visiting in America is somewhere near me.

yeah, they're real new, but they have some great ideas. No official recordings, but I've seen the guys live, and its pretty sick. I think they're coming out with an EP soon.

i agree. it sucks a lot. it's so mellow, so lame, lacks energy, lacks heavyness, totaly uninsired. i am dissapointed from this release.

but i have a great news to share with you, i came across this on the net :
Quote  after a decade’s retreat, god’s pee has decided to roll again.

we are, as always, stoked, stubborn and petrified.

between now and the live-dates, there’ll be rivers of noise and distraction. and the internet is a petty tyrannical monster. please remember that really all that matters is the keep on keeping on. and all that really matters is the shows. and physical engagement in the world. and folks like us and folks like you. thanks for understanding, and thank you for still listening.

see you next winter.

xoxoxox godspeed you! black emperor

After seven years of hiatus, the mighty Godspeed You! Black Emperor have returned. thanks god, they will play at ATP Nightmare Before Christmas 2010  which takes place during 3rd-5th December at Butlins Holiday Centre, Minehead. i hope they will come up with new album in near future.

Well, just got back from seeing Red Sparowes.... super nice and good people, yet i can't really get much into the new album and they pretty much played it exclusively; right away i could notice the difference in dynamics when they played something from the first album, and it was beautiful. Anyways, i certainly don't regret it, and it was nice to see so many people there supporting them.

Doom Riders.... I wanted to escape soo bad, but the venue didn't allow re-entry. The stage presence and personality of their vocalist reminded me alot of Fred Durst, and at one point, when heckled by an audience member, he said "Well, i bet you can't drop into a vert ramp like me!" They also had a "song" about skateboarding.... Yeah
