Almost every time Annie Haslam opened her mouth with Renaissance.

I heard her do a live version of Simon and Garfunkel's "America"--the memory still gives me chills.

Geddy Lee, Fountain of Lamneth

"Call out for direction
And there's no one there to steer
Shout out for salvation
But there's no one there to hear
Cry out supplication
For the maelstrom is near
Scream out desperation
But no one cares to hear
"

Peter Hammill, A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers

"Oceans drifting sideways I am pulled into the spell
I feel you around me, I know you well
Star sliced horizons where the lines stand much to stalk
I feel I am drowning, hands stretch in the dark
Camps of panoply and majesty, what is freedom of choice
Where do I stand in the pageantry whose is my voice
It doesn't feel very bad now, I feel the end is the start
Begin to feel very glad now
All things are apart
All things are apart
All things are apart."

Not withstanding my last post, it's great to see a mention of I Am Waiting. You're right - it is absolutely amazing from a really great album.ClapClapClapClap

I always thought that Anderson and Rabin's voices complete each other (even better than Squire / Anderson).

One of my best achievements in life was to find this picture :D

So many great moments to choose from, but my favourite vocal moment will always remain Jon Anderson's throughout the entire Turn of the Century.

Circus - Movin' On (tthe 20 mins title track. The last vocal passa has never been bettered.

Scatts and canon vocals ..... even Magma's most delightful moments don't reach this perfection.

I get spine chills just thinking about it
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword
