Cremation. I'm not important enough to take up space in the ground, and besides, I always felt like the whole 'let's all stand around the displayed corpse in a casket that doesn't matter to them anyway' to be a little . . . strange . . . to say the least.
Nope; no funeral or burial for me. Kinda pointless, if you ask me.

First, I can't believe this thread is still around. Second, what you said reminds me of this anime movie I saw last night where these people had seeds in them and would become trees (though it happened when they fought) In all seriousness I would probably want to be buried (or if I have the money to do it) be shot into space. I like the idea of going back into the Earth for the cycle of life, or being among the cosmos. IF buried I want to be wearing a New York Giants hoodie. A friend once told me about his grandfather "he didn't wear a tuxedo except at weddings and funerals, so he wanted to be buried in something that really was him"

I'll be crusified, and then my body will be kidnapped and then an entire new religion will be formed in my name!
Though the Zombie thing sounds rather fun. I think I will go with mummification and have a massive pyramid made in honour of my greatness ;)

I would like to be laid on an empty field somewhere, naked, but not buried. Preferably somewhere were no one would find my remains for quite some time.

Where's your environmental consciousness, people? Buried, preferably on a hill in nowhere. Start a garden with my carcass. Cremation blasts off carbon dioxide and mostly wastes all of the nutrients which could go to plant feed. Cryogenic freezing eats absurd amounts of energy as well, and you never know what could happen when you're awakened (especially if your name is Mr. Money). Viking Funeral is a supreme waste -- all that carbon and a few trees to boot, not to mention that all the leftovers fall into the sea to be buried in sand. But being shot into space takes the cake: we could be spending that money sending LIVE people out there, you selfish b*****d!

Encased in gold and placed on top of Mount Everest, in suitably epic pose of course.

Viking mixed with Shot To Space Gotta have the last fun, yeah!!! |
that is just absolutely brilliant. seeing as a was stuck between the two i think you decided what's happening with my body. so, i'll be put on a viking ship that's been modified for space and shot out. while the ship is rising, someone will shoot a flaming arrow at it. however, my body is going to be in a rocket powered coffin, so when the ship has burnt i'll just float through space. that will certainly be epic. i just have to make sure somehow my cd collection is with me and my carcass has good music to listen to. plus i could be the one to bring prog to non human life forms!

That gives me an idea. Is being eaten an option?

people say being cremated (in a traditional way on a pyre rather than in a modern crematorium) is horrible. Body starts to move and jump around because muscles are contracting because of heat.. Personally I don't care much, but I would like to be eaten by animals in a Parsi tradition. It seems the most natural choice.
