^ Ah, I see. I couldn't find the logic for mixing those threads up - it doesn't seem to be intuitive for the user - but if it makes it easier for you to maintain those lists, then it's fine with me of course (thanks BTW for all this follow-up work on everyone's lists Thumbs Up).

^ Having only one thread makes it simpler to maintain and to make sure that the instructions posted are correct. I don't think that there'll be too many submissions for the past months of 2023, so it should not be too cumbersome for you to follow that thread, even if you only care about the yearly poll. I think that going forward the focus will usually be the past 1-2 months as well as the ongoing year, so it won't be a mess of a lot of different polls going on simultaneously. The thread could become a (slightly more complex) version of the "what are you listening to" thread, just with a more durable outcome.

^ Why? It seems to me rather confusing to mix AotY and AotM lists (apart from the fact that I'm not following - and will not participate - in those monthly lists)...

I've created a fresh set of instructions in the other thread - maybe we should close this one and concentrate our efforts over there? Smile

Small improvement: Optimized the layout for the combined charts and implemented proper ranking, so that releases with equal number of points can share positions.

I tried to register again there yesterday, as I rather feel like this should be one big prog/art/progressive/experimental music community despite the address/url. Also, when one site is slow might be easier to find conversation (I like internet forum discussion but I am not very good at it) with users at the other site.

I did check it out recently and there was an interesting exchange between Steve Babb (Glass Hammer) and various forum users. I discovered that Fred Schendel is not really a big part of the band of the anymore (it was always Babb and Schendel for years) and only guested on the recent album Arise. I have been a follower of the band for 20 years and it was fascinating to read some very candid stuff. I wonder why actual musicians like Babb don't feel they can post here? Are we just way too elitist? That's been my concern for a long time tbh.

^ Please PM me about the search function, we can sort it out. Your list looks good, but my script does not import it because you are also quoting your previous list in your reply, and I'm skipping posts which contain quoted lists. Can you post it once again without a reply in the post?

Just a reminder.

Feel free to drop me a PM, but I'll also outline how this works here again, in case other users are wondering:

1. You go to https://awesomeprog.com/release-polls/pa/aoty-2023. No need to log in or create an account at AP.
2. On that page you can use the releases list on the left hand side of the screen to select your favorite releases. There is a link/button called "show all releases (PA + Non-PA)" above the list which you can use to remove the restriction to only showing PA releases.
3. If one of your favorite releases is not in the list, things get more complicated - you can then register/log into AP, enabling you to add artists and releases yourself. You can also ping me here in the forum or via PM, and I'll add the release for you. If it is a PA release, it will also need to be linked to the PA database entry. You can also do that yourself (by adding the link on the AP release page), or I can do it.
4. Assuming that you were able to select all your favorite releases, you can then sort them on the right hand side of the screen.
5. Once your list looks good, you can select the generated code in the text box below the list on the right hand side and copy it into a post in this forum, where my script will pick it up and register it properly, so that it appears on the page in the users tab and as part of the combined charts in the other tabs.

Do you have a way of having entries with equal points having the same ranking?

Currently I see

26. The Mercury Tree - Self Similar - 30 points
27. Steven Wilson - The Harmony Codex - 30 points
28. Damanek - Making Shore - 30 points
29. Moon Safari - Himlabacken Vol 2 - 28 points

This should really be

26. The Mercury Tree - Self Similar - 30 points
26. Steven Wilson - The Harmony Codex - 30 points
26. Damanek - Making Shore - 30 points
29. Moon Safari - Himlabacken Vol 2 - 28 points

Yes, unfortunately the release is tagged as electronic on Bandcamp, and that got automatically picked up.

^ You can copy your list from my post above, just paste it into the textarea that says "Lost your selection? Paste your forum code here [...]". The list is stored in your browser, so it will get lost if you use a different browser, or a different computer, or if you delete your browser cache.

BTW: Whoever pointed out that the drag-and-drop sorting did not work correctly was right ... I've just fixed it. Embarrassed
