BV, I need to save some funds this month (otherwise my wife and I will need to cut back on some basic stuff, like food...
![]() A bit off topic, I compiled a list of many French prog acts (about 360-370) many of them not on PA), and I think I will start devoting myself to unravelling that scene which was apparentely huge with many obscure bands, many of whom might fit in this thread.
Have a good everyone,
Assaf

Thanks for that Faaip, the ones in bold are pretty much the stock they have (plus later ones, not too fussed at the moment). The 'Halber Mensch' they have might even be a DVD which could be interesting. So I'm thinkn' Pretty Great is sounding fine for me

And just if anyone is looking for some really Intense, Crazy Zeuhl. Look for "Viva Koenji (Ni)" by Koenjihyakkei. "Grembo Zavia", "Rissendo Raimb" and "Guoth Dahha" are the most deliriously insane Zeuhl song's i've ever heard.

Yuko, is that one a singe or and album? What other full albums would you consider? I have been looking at my stores catalogue and they have a few of their albums from the '80s, I'm think this would be the best era to focus on.

Pataphonie 'Le Matin Blanc'
Univers Zero 'Ceux du Dehors'
Vortex 'Cycles de Thanatos' (these three have a similar vibe to Eros)
The Boredoms 'Super ae' (expect the usual post-modernist insanity)
Koenji Hyakkei 'Angherr Shisspa' (...if you like operatic vocals)
Bondage Fruit 'IV' and 'VI' (instrumental and unbelievable virtuosity)
and as BV has already recommended (and I guarantee this Japanese band will appeal to you)
HAPPY FAMILY:S/T
Not quite so close but as with the Cul De Sac review earlier on (just check it out to see where I'm coming from) this is an instrumental CD put out by a Japanese quartet of electric bass, electric guitar synths/kybds and drums. Believe me when I tell you that this too is an instrumental CD that, if I played it to you and told you that it was a new album by an ex-Magma bassist, you would have absolutely no reason to disbelieve me and would be howling with delight and doing even more leaping around the room on hearing the churning electric guitars, the thunderous electric basses, the crashing drum work and the soaring keyboard work. From start to finish this is an absolutely amazing instrumental album with some of the finest bass, drums and guitar work you'll hear in years and whether you're a fan of Magma, powerful King Crimson or any point in between, this is an utterly essential album for your collection and will be one that you play over and over and over again. This is stunning; the bass player even plays in a Japanese Magma covers band callled 'Mekanďk Kommandöh ' while the guitarist plays part time in death metal bands and loves classical music!!! This embodies all that makes Magma and Weidorje and the like so classic in one totally instrumental CD.
HAPPY FAMILY:Toscco Ultra-heavy instrumental jazz-rock, the likes of which you rarely hear these days, and a brilliant new
album from this Japanese quartet of electric guitars, electric bass, keyboards and drums. With 54 mins and 9 tracks, it features some of the most explosive yet melodic/cohesive fusion music around with some thunderous electric bass work in fine Magma traditions, scorching electric guitar leads with keyboards filling out the sound and drums steamrollering through on waves of solid rhythmic foundations. From the odd relaxed spot to positively skull-crushing, this is a solid album and highly recommended to all fusion fans who like it powerful and not overpowering with some barnstorming work from all the musicians concerned on a roaring gem of a second album. (may be worth posting your enquiry on the RIO thread as well. Plenty of Dun devotees on their)

I would interested to hear peoples thoughts on this. I think Faaip might be right with his words, the earlier the better. Unforunately Industrial is not one of my strong points (unless we are discussion Zoviet France). Stranglely enough I was introduced to the genre via the Goth side of things (talking early '80s here). But definately something I am interested in getting to know a little better over time. If my tidings prove well might head down to the shops tomorrow and see what I can snap up.

All these suggestions are great. I only have two more which I wish to add.
Abus Dangereux - Nice throbbing bass, quite towards the Jazzy side of things, but resonably easy listening experience. Unforunately if you don't like the vocal side of Zeuhl you might get a little turn off at this aspect.
Happy Family Along with the other Japanese band mentioned (Bondage Fruit and Ruins) I think this band is a great introduction for the people would like a little more edge to their guitar work.
