Yoko Ono is a very important artist on her own even ignoring all her connections with the world of music. She was and still is an icon of the contemporary arts scene because of what she has done since the early 60s. How known is she in the world of regular music fans (because of her involvement with John Lennon) has nothing to do with her significance as a contemporary artist.

And Lady Gaga isn't trying to be shocking and provocative? I'm not saying there's not a difference between the video for Pagan Poetry and Bad Romance, but I've seen Bjork's nipples (and fake nipples!) and the best I've gotten from Lady Gaga is a little ass crack, and I think that's worth noting, as I find it hard to believe attention and record sales did not influence Bjork's choice.

I'm not sure how you guys know your pop because I keep hearing Madonna this, Madonna that when really the person she is imitating directly is Grace Jones.
Also, you may have been amused by Q. Two issues ago she wanted a cover photo for her feature interview of her with her crotch thrust out with a dildo under pants, making it look as though she had a great big dick in order to mock the transsexual rumours. Q were a little nervous about this and during the shoot itself when a satisfactory photo could not be agreed on by both parties, she burst into tears and ran away. Literally.
She came to later and was fairly reasonable about it and the cover idea was abandoned for a much more traditional topless-with-leather-gloved-hands-over-mammaries photo. That that actually is traditional tells you lot about how the music media treat women.

Totally unoriginal. Her look? Easy, just rip off Bjork, Cher, Madonna and a host of lesser dance-music divas. Her music? See previous list minus Bjork. Her lyrics? Ugh. I think she has a strange appeal with her odd use of make up and hair styles, as long as she doesn't go overboard with it and become overwelmed by them, and sometimes she does.
Bjork has been guilty of this as well, sometimes she seems to try really hard to make herself unattractive, I personally find her really attractive (even though lately her age is finally starting to show) there are times when I find her pretty even with the crazy costumes, shucks even with the infamous swan outfit, I'd hit it.
And yes I changed Peter Gabriel to Ian Anderson, and you all know why, it's the codpiece man.

In my case, the less makeup woman is using, the more attractive I consider her. Of course, she has to follow basic hygienic rules. There are of course exceptions. Your avatar is showing Bjork in a way I can appreciate. I like also Christina Booth, singer of Epica or The Gathering & Karnataka ensemble. But mostly, I find makeup as something I can stand, not appreciate. MOSTLY. Peter Gabriel - shocking, certainly. That compensates for how he looks, because purpose sanctions the means, right ?

Yes, very. Unlike a lot of people I don't really see anything wrong with her face, it's just different. Though I can understand why someone would find her extremely unattractive, she's certainly not "normal" looking to say the least, and her choice of outfits and hairstyles tend to be so ridiculous it makes Ian Anderson's stage persona seem subtle by comparison.

You totally answered that for me like you're reading my mind, thanx Boo Boo  , it's a much more genuine display of her sensuality than a show or overt act of it to sell records, if you see what I mean..? I think that video was beautifully done. And yes, Henry, I've seen all her vids, I'm a fan..

I don't consider Lady Gaga attractive... I consider Stefani Germatta atractive.
Dark Hair > Blonde hair
Tasteful use of makeup > Cartoonish use of makeup.
I acknowladge Lady Gaga's look fits her character better, but in terms of actual attractiveness, I'd rather shag Stefani.

Bjork can be very sexual but with her it's a sincere form of self expression, she doesn't use it to market herself, she doesn't wear slutty outfits and she has an unusual appearance that isn't that marketable to horny teenage boys.
The sexual content in All is Full of Love is a lot more tasteful and artistic than say... the sexual content in your usual Pussycat Dolls song.
