Actually George Harrison did do some Indian music (and Hare Krishna) on one of his albums and it sounds very good.

Except someone killed the chosen one off, so it remains an obscurity to this day.

To the best of my knowledge, Indian rock music that uses a lot of the classical Indian music harmonic structure and lots of complex rhythms too.
