Why on Earth would you exclude perhaps the greatest album of the time frame you established for this poll - Genesis' A Trick of the Tail? A HUGE oversight. Do come along, won't you?

Lean years, aren´t it? Punk-rock and new wave attack, King Crimson on hiatus, less or more weak albums on your list.

So many fantastic albums in the late 70s.  The albums by Rush, UK and Eloy deserve a mention.
 
However two of my all-time top three are here Tongue so I've narrowed it down to those, Going For The One and Animals.  Can I decide between them?  No Confused.

Going with A Farewell To Kings for this poll...that album is just so incredible, especially for the 1976-1980 era. I even find the weakest track, Madrigal, to be great as it fits the album very well. Hemispheres and A Trick Of The Tail would follow AFTK.

Big thumbs up for the Muffins' Manna album.  The Frith era stuff is rather grating. 

 
It's darker but i wouldn't say more depressing.Scary is the word. I always play it at Halloween along with Shub Niggurath.


Love that list myself, but the most obvious band for me is Art Zoyd, which I'm voting other for (I consider it to be a great band).  I love all of Art Zoyd's albums during the period, but if I have to choose one, I will give it to Generation Sans Futur, or maybe Symphonie Pour Le Jour... or maybe Musique Pour L'Odysee.  Another that could take it is Geinoh Yamashirogumi's Osorezan.  And Zamla Mammaz Manna's Familjesprickor.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Trick of the Tail  was recorded and mixed at Trident Studios in October/November 1975. Band could release it even in 1977 but it wouldn't change anything -  this album belongs to the "classic era".
 
Ok, you are right, but if guide myself by what PA says, it says 1976. I don't know about that of a classic era finishing in 1975. Seems to be an opinion, but maybe I'm wrong.
Nobody is wrong : I was just  trying to write down only the albums which were recorded after 1975  . "Classic era " or not - it doesn't matter. I meant Trick of the Tail "belongs to blabla"  chronologically .
P.S. Is chronologically  an English word??
 
Ok, no problem. English is not my language too, but I think that it is a right word. Unless I understand what you are trying to say.
