Overall, IQ's "Dark Matter" is an album whose sound and vibe are as eerie, enigmatic, and gloomy as its cover image.

^^ There was a topic on it in Get the Word Out by the supplier or label or something, which is how I found ot about it. While I love some tribute albums (tributes to Tim Smith of Cardiacs, to Magma, to Robert Wyatt) what I have heard of this KC tribute does sound pretty terrible to me.

EDIT: As an album tribute, I'll stick with Singin' to God. I only mention, again, for those who like Sing to God.

Is it a good album?
If I was to judge by what i see, it could be a cover for some extreme metal band. I think i am wrong here, but that's what it looks like to me.

edit: I googled the image.
But let's write the artist/band name and album title if they don't show on the cover.
Otherwise it's rather pointless, isn't it?  Confused

I made it clickable

EDIT: It will be released next week. The single released last week was quite decent, but all the tracks will have different artists performing. Will at least be interesting to hear LaBrie sing KC ...

As for comparing that IQ album cover with the ELP, just sharing that it is reminds me of it, not saying it should you or anything like that. I am terrible at chit-chat.

Yeah, I looked up the image and found out what it is.
Tribute albums are rarely good, so I will stay away from this album.

^ It was enough to make me associate it with that cover, anyway. But different people associate differently.

Much nicer. :)

Actually, I kind of like the From Beyond-ness of the In the Court "deformative" art (but looks badly digitally rendered to me).

I don't believe this needs commenting.

Simply see how much more pleasing this rendition of the "Encore" sleeve design is:

Perhaps that supposed point would have been appropriate for a compilation of heavy metal artists.

so Jazz Fusion is higher and mightier?
That illustration is kitsch and totally childish, like if it were created for 8–10-year-old kids as the target audience, and as such, it would have been more suitable for a NWOBHM compilation album. The boyish kitschness of this design could be similar to:

Not a good album cover, I agree...
The aficionados of neo-prog should definitely pick up the one and only album by the German band Rachel's Birthday from 1996. Actually, the extremely demanding album—which deserves a far greater view—has no weak points. Particularly in this 24-minute tune, "Waves," some sections have highly intricate and skillfully played, varied instrumental techniques.
