1- Tarkus
2- Trilogy 3- Brain Salad Surgery 4- Pictures at an Exhibition 5- Emerson, Lake & Palmer 6- Black Moon 7- Emerson, Lake & Powell Works 1 could go in 7th place. And I didn't include WBMFTTSTNE because it's a live album with no new material, if not it'd be close to the top. Trilogy/Tarkus/BSS are my favorite, it's very hard to rank them, they're somehwat at the same level as 9/10 albums or so. |

The most positive thing I can say about the ill fortunes of Love Beach in this poll is, at least it received two more votes than In the Hot Seat, although I know that's no claim to greatness.

For what it's worth I don't think Love Beach is a bad album. The only real stinker is a Taste Of My Love but even that amusingly ended up on the recent 3 disc anthology. All opinions on ELP are valid. Trilogy is my second favourite album by ELP but its certainly a very 'technical' album I would say. However Carl Palmer was at his very best and I do think you have to be a fan of drumming in general to really love that album. BSS is very synth/electronic heavy and I can understand why that puts many off.

1.Tarkus 2.Welcome Back My Friends...... 3.Emerson Lake and Palmer 4. Pictures at an exhibition 5.Trilogy 6. Brain Salad Surgery But after that, only listen to the odd track here and there. Don't play any of the other albums all the way through.

I've heard of Karn Evil 9, but I couldn't remember which album it's on, and I've never been a fan of that song anyway.

Honestly, I couldn't name any song on Trilogy or Brain Salad Surgery, but I know every song on the Love Beach album.

I'm not entirely sure you should be ranking this album then if you don't remember the two standout tracks on it!

^ You're absolutely right! It's the memorable Greg Lake ELP songs I like best of all, and the same applies to King Crimson too.
Sorry, I don't remember Endless Enigma or Trilogy at all.

Ah, I should have known, the Greg Lake songs. So you don't like the prog classics like Endless Enigma and Trilogy?

ELP's debut features some of my favourite songs, including "Take a Pebble" & "Lucky Man", but I can't think of any memorable songs that really stand out for me on the Trilogy album.

Interesting that you rate the debut and Trilogy so different when I don't hear that much difference style-wise apart from the much improved sound of Trilogy.
3. Emerson, Lake & Palmer - 9/10 10. Trilogy - 6/10 |
