After searching all over the net, I finally ordered from Musea the Abus Dangereux - Le Quatrieme Mouvement. After having a taste of the band, I am looking forward to this.

Joren it would probably be for the best if we were to change it Francois as that is the person we should have been talking about. I have "quand le son devient aigu, jeter la girafe a la mer" by Jacques. But it has been too long since I have listened to it to remember if it would be worth while voting on, but I don't remember it being a quite good album.

Claire I notice you have been listening to the other Cerberus Shoal CD "The Land We Believe In" you liking it as much as the other one? This is there latest CD which was brought out last year.
I also have a split they did with Alvarius B (Sun City Girls) I don't think it is as good as their other material, but if you are a fan of the band it might be worth while checking out. |
Oh, I like it VERY much. It seemed much darker, generally of course, in tone than the other one - but that may have been me [my listening mood that is. only listened once so far, and I only really like to judge after a few listens]... I like Chaiming the Knoblessone the best of what I've heard thus far though. [and I would be interested in checking out the split - thanks for the info BV!] One comment/criticism I do have though [much more on CtheK] is regarding the vocals. the woman's very good, but I thought the guy was a bit hokey. like some hs dude playing w/ a mike. it sort of demeaned it a bit i thought - the silliness of it..although, of course, that may have been their intention [adding some lightness to the general darkness mix...] [i'm hypercritical sometimes too ;)] |
I don't think it was just the mood (though I do find them to be very mood orientated music) but their last album does have dark themes running throughout, especially in the lyrical department (thought they might sound like nonsense at times). They really like the use of metaphors. They still hold that sombre sound from their post-rock days. For some reason the guys vocals have never really bothered me. It was something I noticed straight off and I must believe their is some reason behind it, at times they seem to like to act the opposite to what they are conveying (if that makes any sense).

So this is the list we need to add:
Jacques Thollot
|
??? don't you mean François Thollot maybe? Jacques is avant/concrete...
well, i think he should definitely be there anyway [François Thollot that is]. Also One Shot & Zypressen too [along w/ what I sd earlier today/yesterday] |
Yep I didn't see that one, I think it is probably my fault on this one. When we for started talking about Francois Thollot I got a little mixed up with the similar names (though Jacques is cool as well). I know Zypressen I quite like them, remind me of Lacrymosa (not sure if that is the spelling). Have not heard of One Shot though. The others you suggested before are now on the chart to be voted upon
|
Let me know if Jacques Thollot should indeed be changed into François Thollot on the chart and I will make the change.

Claire, And you help would be very much appreciated. The thing is that it takes time for all members of the team to vote and so until a band is approved for addition it takes time. But when we do have bands for addition, then from there we can use much help. You can look here for our list: http://www.progtology.com/home/progarchives/razchart.xhtml
