went with "Heart Of The Sunrise" but let me tell you that this is a very hard poll for me to decide as I love all the songs mentioned. Reason I voted Heart Of The Sunrise is because I feel it defines early prog best it has all the elements I enjoy.

I'll never forget walking down onto the floor to get to my second row
tickets at for Rush while King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man was
blasting over the giant speakers... felt so... grandiose!
For that and many more reasons I picked the ol' KC

The current scores (virtually equal) proves in a way that you were right about this being a hard poll, whilst for me, it was an easy selection for Shine On You Crazy Diamond.

Coin flip for me on KC and PF. All great songs.
I would go with 21st Century in the end.

For me as a Pink Floyd fan (my favorite band for years) it's very easy - Shine on!

A skippable 30 seconds well after the end of the song invalidates the whole thing?
|
Nope. The rest of it is brilliant. The delay isn't that big, and it means I have to get up and turn the damn thing off (breaking the atmosphere) before the end. It's a really great piece, but the other three are basically flawless, and it isn't.

I love all of these, but with the inclusion of "21st Century Schizoid Man", my choice was clear. Now, since I'm in a '69 mindset, if "Peaches en Regalia" was here....

Hmm Id say
1. Schizoid 2. Shine On 3. Cinema Show 4. Heart (you know its a top draw collection of tracks when this is the last of them)

Heart Of The Sunrise has the We Have Heaven Reprise, so that's out.
Of the other three, I think Schizoid Man is the one for me:
Death seed, blind man's greed Poets' starving children bleed Nothing he's got, he really needs 21st Century Schizoid Man!
Pure brilliance.
