They should add a couple more:
1.- Folk metal technical hair extreme fat vocalist with leather pants too tight showing some package. 2.- Horrible thing. |

it's called... using the search function... beat the hell out of a thread titled... 'what the hell happened to Prog Metal while I was away' and the trolls, hyenas, and assorted RIO freaks would have descended upon the thread... then Jody would have put his size 12's up our keisters in an attempt to reign us in... probably best it wasn't closed aye! |

Wow, I've been gone for a while, and look what happens!
Actually the new categories make more sense to me... I had always thought that Prog Metal was too all-encompassing of a genre to include such a variety of styles. Well done! Edited by Empathy - December 14 2007 at 16:42 |

I think that Orphaned Land should be in extreme/tech instead of experimental/post.

Well done everyone! Especially love the experimental/post-metal section.

By the way, if Sauron played prog, you can bet it would be extreme/tech prg metal...

Some trolls seem to survived the demise of Sauron, probably olog-hai trolls, they can even log on to the internet, but not really able or wantingto write something worthwhile.
On this topic interesting, that Opeth was moved to the tech /extreme family, I tend to agree, but sub-sub genres may change even per albums by the same band.

I guess I can see where PHP is coming from; Prog-Metal does seem to be a tad inclusive, but oh well. There's still plenty of excellent music to be found in these categories and I'm glad to see the site is ummm progressing!

^ no problem ... I know what "symphonic" means literally, it just means something different when you us it in combination with "prog". Just ask Iván or have a look at the definition of Symphonic Prog.

1
: harmonious, symphonious
2
: relating to or having the form or character of a symphony <symphonic music>
3
: suggestive of a symphony especially in form, interweaving of themes, or harmonious arrangement <a symphonic drama> Sorry, I had to do it. |

^ Symphonic does not necessarily mean orchestral or particularly related to classical music ... it can also mean lush keyboards and a certain type of melodic interplay between instruments. It's really difficult to define!
