^ if everybody switched from Windows to Mac, then the malware developers would also switch to that platform. So if you want your Mac to stay low-profile, you better not make people switch to it.Wink

It's free for personal use, if you re-register every 14 months. I've been using it for 4 years now, without problems and nicely (Wink) catching a virus every once in a while.

I switched to Avast from AVG 4 years ago because the update server of AVG was down more often than up.

AVG anti-virus is free and can scan individual files and be scheduled, doesn't pretend to be a firewall and self-updates. if your computer isn't up-to-date a professional anti-virus tool can often be more demanding on your system than the virus itself

My subscription to Norton is up and I'm wondering if its worth continueing with it or getting a freeware anti-virus. So whats better, renuing the subscribtion or downloading a freeware A-V, and if getting a freeware one, whats the best one to get?
