Well, sometimes excessive enthusiasm can turn into annoyance. ;)

Forum member Ligeia9@ only joined on 23/8/24 and has already posted 42 reviews (might be more by now!). Nothing wrong with the reviews themselves but such bulk posting means they’re dominating the latest reviews section to the detriment of other postings. I seem to remember this happening with another poster a while back and was sorted out by a quiet word from admin?

Thanks for the clarification. It makes sense and I think the rules need to be updated really badly. I was trying to be as objective as possible when reporting that particular review tbh, because I'm Polish and the first one to simp for this kind of patriotic signs. :P

half of the review breaks the following rule:
Quote 1 - Write in ENGLISH, we regret that we cannot accept reviews in other languages. Avoid the use of on-line translators wherever possible, they will not do justice to your efforts.

What's with this mindless trend of talking shіt about Coldplay? Coldplay is awesome. Viva La Vida, Clocks and The Scientist are some of their weakest tracks. The deep cuts is where Coldplay really shine:

^ yeah that's true. You have to be receptive to a certain music form or be in the mood for it.
When i say "get" i mean putting yourself in the mindset of the musicians and seeing where they come from.
Not always instantly warm and fuzzy and sometimes it never works (personal taste does come into play) but a good critic of music can recognize an excellent album without actually liking it :)

^ That Zopp is an album I "got" and liked at first, then I didn't like what I got, and now I got what I like.  It's for me more like some music avenues interest me much more at some times, and also my mood affects my listening.  Sometimes I'm just VERY into particular forms of music and a lot of Prog that I love or loved at one time is annoying at others.  At some timse my tastes are much broader and receptive than at others. I generally would not rate or review without listening to an album multiple times over a period of time.  What appeals to me one day might not be what I am into the next. Some days I'm not interested in hearing any music.

^ that's just it.  There are many albums i didn't get at first and only after months or in some cases years did it finally click. Prog, jazz, classical are art forms to work for, not instant gratification at least the more complex composers. Zopp is brilliant IMHO

^ Well, that jazzy comment is bizarre to me.  By the way, I've been listening to it again and it is better than I recall.  I liked it first time, hated it second time, and now it's good.  I doubt that person has heard it more than once in full, and likely not even once in full.  Poor review even if I'm fine with it staying ultimately.  Might be good to use the social comments to comment on it.

^ the reviewer can't understand why anyone claims it's jazzy
OMG. The problem with those who give such works 2 stars is they are utterly clueless about complex music
It's like trying to take a calculus exam when you haven't even finished basic arithmetic
Composer getting lost in his own work? Translation: i don't get complex music
What a lame rant about nothing LOL

I'm seeing a two star review for Zopp's Dominion. https://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=3066454

While it is more common to post a rave review to start, some people post reviews to express disappointment.  In this case his/her/their expectations were not high so it is not expressing so much disappointment.  Some people want to balance out the good reviews or the negative reviews with a contrary opinion.

For a lot of reviews, say of services, you find the reviews quite polarised.  If you have a bad experience you are more likely to comment, and if you have a great one, more likely.  For me that album is maybe a three star album (or a two compared to what I listen to and like from personal taste or maybe a one).  I'm fine with review, maybe more so because I don't hold the album in high regard and share some of the same concerns.

Not so much of a report but an observation. This guy only joined today and his first act is to give a one star review to an album that is regarded pretty much as the dogs bollocks on here. Seems very odd to me - if I was new on a site I’d be wanting to give rave reviews to my favourite albums rather than start off by sl*g.ing off things I don’t like?!?!?

If it's clearly labeled and used sparingly, it's not that bad. However, reviews should be written by a human and reflect that human's view on the subject reviewed or not written at all.

BTW.

My overall feeling is that it's okay to use such things as long as you clearly state that it was generated by AI but reflects the individual's opinion. I am a native English language speaker but I could imagine that AI generation could be useful if you are entering the parameters because English is not your native language.

I've quoted some ChatGPT results in posts on this forum in the past, but it was out of curiosity and wanted to share. I made it clear it was from ChatGPT.
