Besides the fact that Porcupine Tree is NOT prog metal, the only other thing I would like to state is that my vote goes to PT

So what exactly is the question and what are we voting on??   Is the question, who is the better band, what band has the better musicians, what band is easier to listen to, who is your favorite band?????  What is Gods name is the Question???

With those questions asked, I must withhold my vote until the question is clarified.  I agree with a previous poster who said this is absurd.

While I've listen to DT for years and PC for a year, I still prefer DT, mostly for the guitar work.

Dream Theater. Period.
PT is just beginning a new era, they weren't exactly prog at the beginning.
Progressive music, a kind of life.

To break the tie...I like both but prefer PT.  So 25-24 for PT now, pretty tight.

Chalk and cheese.

Anyway, I voted PT as I like their music, particularly the earlier stuff. Not keen on DT's music, though. Each to his/her own.

Porcupine Tree has very little material that could even remotely be considered metal.

I agree with everyone that says that Dream Theater should not be in a poll with Porcupine Tree.  I also agree with everyone that likes Dream Theater more.  Dream Theater just as amazing talent that very few bands can equal.

I don't think PT is prog metal at all, so the comparation is rather useless.

Nevertheless, my choice is not difficult, Porcupine Tree.

Porcopine Tree has not much to do with prog. metal so it does not make much sense to compare them to a leading prog. metal band.
