^ Every day I'm a little sadder, although not really madder, but can it get any badder, that Love Beach is half-submerged without a ladder.

^ I never realised the lyric "Every day a little sadder, a little madder, someone get me a ladder" was such a deep and meaningful metaphor either. I just assumed it was because "ladder" is the only word that rhymes with "sadder" and "madder".

Well, rope doesn't rhyme, so... "Every day a little sadder, a little madder, someone get me rope and ladder" Is it better, though? I think the idea comes across just fine with the lyrics as written. |

Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

I rarely paid attention to ELP lyrics (and when it was pointed out to me how bad the lyrics of Love Beach are, ruined the album even more for me ), but here i agree, "ladder" just rhymes with the other two words, "sadder" and "madder". It's a head-scratcher definitely (to put it kindly).

Why is it that bad? I don't get it... You might be against the idea of hanging yourself, but that doesn't make it one of the worst lyrics ever !!! |

No BSS , presumably as the live triple pretty much includes the whole thing and is better performed live?

That cheesy lyric still makes me laugh, but it would've been better-placed on the Love Beach album.
