Renaissance has a lot of romantic piano playing although often more classical than jazzy.

bill evans - piece peace
I really love to hearing him without the quartet... just Bill and the piano and some really far out stuff. |

Thanks for the link... Have not managed to get this album yet, but managed to get Revere Reach and Briney Hooves.. His piano work sounds really good... Not sure what the Cardiacs sound like, do not own any of their albums.

I'd say most of ELP's first album is filled to the brim with keyboards.
Maybe Premiata Forneria Marconi's Storia di Un Minuto too.

Fugue - ELP gets me every time! I'll try to think of a less obvious one though - often you find them in the middle of epic songs and really bring something to the track. Off the top of my head, the short piano run in Spock's Beard's The Doorway is lovely, but there must be hundreds out there.

great one Doc.. but not the first two I thought of... the epitome to me of beautiful piano prog Mort... Schooldays by Gentle Giant... so beautiful... Gentle Giant spent the rest of the 70's forgetting just how beautiful music could be and being souless and cold 2nd choice.. Kobaia by Magma.. that piano solo touches my nether regions like few others.

Check out the beautiful pianism of Luciano Basso throughout this album:
For a bonus, it also contains my favourite harpsichord break in prog. |
