Both bands are epic (and I truly mean EPIC). While GY!BE's music tends to lean towards the melancholic side Yndi Halda's music is full of joy. They're like the other side of the coin. Believe them when they say "Enjoy Eternal Bliss" because that's what you'll feel when you listen to their climaxes. They're my second favorite band in the genre (the first one being GY!BE) I can't recommend them highly enough. |

All of the bands listed in the gene here in PA are Post-Rock. None are experimental. (with exception of Don Caballero [math rock] and Ulver which are in Post-Rock because it's the closest description to their music) Experimental as a genre is too vague. Every artist have the potential to be experimental in their own genre, but Experimental as a genre doesn't exist. Just wanted to clear that out. Edited by chamberry - October 28 2007 at 02:31 |

How are they compared to GY!BE? I saw some people comparing Yndi Halda to them on last.fm, and I'm curious since I'm really enjoying GY!BE right now. |

Godspeed is like pure post with orchestral leanings Ulver...can't say I've heard but I'm under the impression that they flirt with both post and experimental at the same time Anathema are more like metal with "experimental" leanings from what I've heard |

Besides the second last song on the morningside album, they are very typical.
Is GYBE, Ulver, and Anathema post? I always figured they were experimental. Edited by schizoid_man77 - October 27 2007 at 23:37 |

That's exactly what they are (sort of). The dirtiness in sound of the shoegazer genre, but with a metal overtone. Its quite atmospheric. I don't know much about them so I'll let others to give you a more in-depth description. |

That's why their great for newcomers. People who are new to Post-metal will get a decent impression on the genre. I felt the same way as you did with The Morningside, to be honest. |

My friend keeps going on and on about Jesu. Can anyone here tell me what they're like? He said they're like 'heavy shoegaze'

MotA is very typical in my opinion. They don't do anything original with the genre and I don't find them very interesting even though they're still pretty good. |

Blacklit is the best song on it!
I also got some mouth of the architect! Pretty sweet stuff, right when you think you are listening to hardcore, it goes into a sweet instrumental part.

I'm still having trouble enjoying Panopticon. Every time I try to listen to them I sort of drift away through the middle of the album. Its very annoying since I really want to like it. |

You're very welcomed moreitsy. I'm hooked with these guys. I've always heard about them, but I started listening to their music some days ago. They do have an alternative mist in their music... but so do most Post-metal bands (the growling is the only thing keeping them away from it). |
