A little correction: the phasing is only apparent to me in a few of the tracks. The "Wolf Hollow" tracks are obviously inspired by Zappa's well known admiration of Edgard Varese, and are beautiful and mesmerizing. I think you will like it.

I received "Dance Me This" in the mail this morning. I've already listened to it 3 times. It's beautiful. The first track contains what is probably his last guitar performance. It gives me chills. All the tracks are Synclavier pieces, mostly using a technique FZ and his Synclavier assistant Todd Yvega called "phasing" - taking short loops of different lengths, and playing them until they all join back together. It's eerie and beautiful. The vocals (on only a few tracks) are from 3 Tuvan throat singers, invited to the UMRK by master Frank. As it is the last album he created before his untimely demise, this makes a compelling exclamation point on his career.

If you had to even ask this question, you will never understand...

I tried to collect everything Frank has done but stopped at his early 80's output. I think after then decent stuf is furter and farther between.

This bootleg sounds really good.

I just typed out a long paragraph only for an error in connection to this forum to wipe out everything I typed. Only this forum.... Short version: I liked Roxy By Proxy, but it seems like an alternate version of Roxy & Elsewhere, with different renditions, new dialogue. I expected more songs that weren't on R&E that were played on the late-73 tour. I'll admit, Inca Roads was cool, but I think I've heard better versions of that lounge version of the song before it became the One Size Fits All version. I also liked the 'drums-only' of Cheepnis; it sounds like a hip-hop track. Anyone check out Joe's Camouflage? I'll probably get it sooner or later, and I expect it to be similar quality to Joe's Menage, but I haven't heard much about it online.
