I hadn't heard music by this band before and only vaguely recognised the name, but thought it would be fun to share some links relating it to prog.

Creative does not equal prog. They're an above average pop group. Not even slightly prog though.

I was almost forced to listen Gorillaz, when I went on a car trip with a friend his wife and daughter plus my ex girlfriend and her 9 years daughter, the two girls played this all the road (5 hours trip), and was pleasently surprised, they are quite good, or at least beter than 99% of today's mainstream.
But Prog?
Not 100% Prog as Nevbox said, the problem is that not even 0.1% Prog Related.

They're fantastic, and very creative. They've made some of the best original music of the past decade. (and this decade for that matter)
But they're not prog, not in the slightest. |

I think it is safe to say that you are, indeed, the only person in the world with this opinion. |

Yes, I said Gorillaz. Am i the only one who considers them prog? I saw them recently at Coachella and I've been obsessed since. their sound is infused with funk, dub, pop, rock, electronic, R&B, dance, rap, soul and almost everything good. It Is the brainchild of Damon Albarn formally of Blur (not prog). They have been active since 1998 and always top charts. They are seen as this mainstream pop group with no talent and nothing but studio magic. Originally, they weren't showing their faces, only animated images, and they never played live until a point. live shows still remain rare, and when they do there is usually a screen in front of them. yeah, they aren't for the average prog ear, but i think they fit the criteria.
