Page squandered his talent.  Gilmour has always made the most of his chops.  Still gotta vote Page.

I like both styles very much, and they're very diffrent. I prefer Page, though.

Gilmour plays pretty simple, mostly blues-based guitar lines with alot of string bendings in his solos. What he lacks in technique, he certainly makes up for in big, emotional solos. Page is just all over the place musically. He can do pretty much whatever he wants with his guitar. He can handle heavy rock, folk, blues and more with ease. Ha may be a bit sloppy live, but he's just so much more technically competent than Gilmour IMO. Sure, he might like to play insanely fast blues-licks, but he can also play slow, big emotional notes in his solos. Blah blah blah...

I'd take the "Since i've been loving you" solo over the solo in "Dogs" any day. Even though i really like both.

Jimmy Page by a long way as far as technique goes. Gilmour is a good and thoughtful guitarist though.

And Gilmour only gets better with time... at least as far as plying guitar live is concerned. Of course, he always needs some time to practice before playing live, or he won't sound so good.

Dave.
He has a more unique sound imho.
He is much better than Page when playing live. ( Page after 1977 is more miss than hit, although he had some moments).

I dont see why we have to choose. both are good in their own way. only thing id say is that jimmy page is more of a virtuoso.

Gilmour by far.

I've never really liked Page's style, he makes A LOT of mistakes.
I shook my head and smiled a whisper knowing all about the place
