This reminds me also of In Absentia, which is has a major theme throughout most of the album, although it's not a narrative concept like the title of this thread. Both FoaBP and IA are great albums. |

I have Blackwater Park as well. I am not a big fan of Death Metal, so, Opeth is taking me a bit to get into, but, I will definitely get Ghost Reveries. |

Haha ya don't worry about it, it's no big deal. But I would highly recommend Ghost Reveries if you haven't heard it, that and Blackwater Park are among the few albums I consider true masterpieces (in metal). Edited by asimplemistake - January 22 2008 at 00:42 |

Journey to the Center of the Earth

Not metal, but Pink Floyds The Wall is the obvious choice.
and Fear Of a Blank Planet by Porqupine Tree

I have heard all of those except for Ghost Reveries. Orphaned Land's Mabool is an amazing album. You think it should have gone elsewhere? Well, I just joined, so, I get a free mess up. >__> |

OPETH has a few, Still Life and Ghost Reveries (minus the last track), of which I'd highly recommend Ghost Reveries.
Also SYMPHONY X's V: The New Mythology Suite is built around it's own theme, which works out well for a Symphonic Power-Progressive band. Another one that pops into my head is ORPHANED LAND's album, although I haven't heard it yet (I've been meaning to get to it). I'm guessing this should go into another section though, because it seems to be listing stuff/recommending so far. |

Aina - Days of Rising Doom: The Metal Opera. Frameshift - Unweaving the Rainbow (with James LaBrie on vocals). Shadow Gallery. Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime 1 and possibly 2 (I like part 2, most don't).

I believe Alternative 4, Judgement and A Fine Day to Exit were concepts
All by the band Anathema, very depressing and emotional metal...don't expect over the top instrumentation, just very touching passages. Great stuff. |

I am looking for more Progressive Metal (or even Rock) Narrative Concept Albums.
I suggest these: Ayreon - Everything Mind's Eye - A Gentleman's Hurricane Pain of Salvation - Pretty much anything Spock's Beard - Snow Jeff Wayne - Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds Dream Theater - Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence and Metropolis Part II: Scenes from a Memory Shadows Gallery - Tyranny, and Room V Evergrey - In Search of the Truth |
