not to be a prick Jean... but I'll clue you in to something...

listener expectations....

for this site....everything else is secondary.... if a group is prog-metal... they belong with prog-metal groups.. and the PMT  then divides them according to secondary aspects of their sound that make them different. People coming here want to find groups that match their interests.. say the acne scarred youth that dig Prog Metal.. .it stands they be together... not with other groups that have NOTHING in common musically other than that someone has deemed them to be... avant-garde.  Not to mention... if I cared to know how many ways that could be defined... I'd ask just want it means to each of us.

I am not too happy with it, to be honest. avant-garde is avant-garde; everything else is secondary. I don't see the need to differentiate between prog avant-garde and prog metal avant-garde. I personally believe metal and avant-garde are mutually exclusive. by that I don't want to belittle prog metal bands. but take a look at the prog avant-garde bands: do you honestly think there is much "rock" in bands like the Residents or Henry Cow? certainly not, which is what makes them avant-garde. if there were more rock in them they would cease to be avant-garde. which is why many people don't see these artists as belonging in here. I think it is the same with Prog Metal: as soon as the "Metal" part becomes too obvious they cease to be avant-garde. which is why I think one avant-garde genre is enough to throw them all in

YOU!!! THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!

nah... blame Raffaella.... her idea to split existing subs first with AR. The PMT must have seen how well that went.. and just copied us LOLWink

Mike,Me,Bryan and Tristan came up with subs, wrote definitions and listened to every PM band in the database and placed them in their respective subs(Ithink we started with 7,then narrowed it down to 5) over TWO YEARS ago Micky. We even tried to get it implemented but it was rejected.

Methinks you guys copied us.Wink

And yet one of your opening posts on this forum was an atack against prog metal, a very pathetic attempt at one as well.

Are you surprised at the lack of respect when you start off like that?

(BTW, a lot of the PM I doesnt have any keyboards and is most certainly not "just" heavy metal)

No wonder you're called The_Id... it's obvious that your reactions are impulsive, instinct-driven... that ego has to have a hard time keeping that in check.... is there a superego or just a savage anti-metal nature?
