No, it isn't. But "Meurglys III" (from World Record, VdGG) contains much more instrumental sections than instrumental-vocalic ones.

    Yeah, try Renaissance. Song for All Seasons or Mother Russia. Well, Ashes Are Burning would do the trick too I guess, but I recommend those two first. Ok, they're not 30 minutes, but they don't have to be

Does anyone out there know a (mainly non-vocal) prog symphony which is just as powerful as 'The Gates of Delirium' (on Yes' RELAYER album)?

I am not looking for masterpieces that are mainly vocal, such as 'Close to the Edge' or 'Supper's Ready'. I am just wondering if there are other symphonic pieces, approximately 20 minutes long, that pack a real punch. Pink Floyd's 'Echoes' comes close, but it seems a little too mellow. 'Lark's Tongues in Aspic', 'Ommadawn' and Caravan's 'Nine Feet Underground' might fit the bill, but they don't have meaningful lyrics... (Erm, I hope you're prepared to call Jon Anderson's lyrics 'meaningful')

Any recommendations???
