If you want to hear samples of bands so you can make your own comparisons, locate the bands you are interested in within the Archives. Many of them have samples you can listen to.

If you would like to suggest bands that are not here that you think deserve to be,start a topic in the Suggest Bands/Artists section. If you could provide links to band websites that have audio samples that would help alot too.

thank'y'all. i'll use this thread to put down my first impressions after going through the site & forum these last days. as i said, i joined PA in order to contribute to the knowledge of Romanian music. i was full of enthusiasm but at this point i am quite... hmm. first, i now understand how newbie am i not only to the board, but also to prog (genres & subgenres). (second) my goal is to become able to write good&usefull reviews; BUT 1. romanian bands didn't invent much, they creatively used influences, so if i don't known what the source artists played, how can i compare my subject band to the latter? 2. if i can not compare my the object of my review, how can i describe it? i mean, if i have no "inside" knowledge of music, how can i write critical comments that are actually usefull? i can only restrain to describing not the actual music, but my perception of it - but i don't have the proper vocabulary to use. one next matter could be this one: there are some information sources for documenting, but what is my entitlement to use them as i don't known what they're talking about? for example, if an info i want to quote says that one of Sfinx's songs resembles the music of Klaus Schultze and Michael Nyman, how can i refer to that as i never heard of those guys before? and i can't just quote the original author at every point - "X says that..., and also that..., but according to Y original member, ....". also, original sources to rely on and to have peace of mind while quoting are very difficult to find - i'm talking about contemporary reviews in the press, or original issues (re-issueing is not yet common in Romania because of lack of funds & interest) with sleeve or booklet infos. one last issue (i recognize the answer may be already posted somewhere on the forum but i did'nt struggle that much to find it) is: in order to convinge the PA "authorities" of the relevance of some still unknown prog or progrelated acts, listening is required, how can that be done? i mean, in the official & legal way of the PA.
maybe out of your past experience as reviewers you already have answers to my issues. any would help.

hello everybody. "i live in romania and that keeps me very occupied" (that's common wisdom here :), still i'll try to roam around the site&forum and hopefully i'll manage as soon as possible to offer some insights into the Romanian contribution to prog genres). o zi buna va doresc!
