Erik :"I have just returned from a great weekend in Paris. On Friday I was picked up by Alucard, we had a walk, a beer, did some sightseeing and visited some great music stores where I discovered that Paris is very (symphonic) prog friendly, some stores even had a special progrock section
! I was pleasantly surprised how many Italian symphonic prog albums were available, the World Cup Football 2006 match between France and Italy did not effect this (I don't mean the Zidane/Materazzi case but the fact that Italy won)
...
Then we had our diner in an Indian restaurant (delicious chicken Tandoori and fish curry, unfortunately the Indain beer King Fisher was out of order
..). Finally we ended at Alucard his studio appartment where I was allowed to stay until Sunday. There we played lots of symphonic rock and Canterbury, I have to say that my attitude towards this movement is more positive thanks to Alucard his efforts to learn the quality of Canterbury
.
Saturday Alucard brought made a French breakfast with 'baguettes' and 'croissants', then we went to a record shop where we met the other French Prog Archives collaborator Oliverstoned. We had a great time together, doing some record shopping (I bought the Fruupp Anthology 2-CD), sight seeing and we joined the very pleasant atmosphere in a Grand Cafe with grilled salmon and some wine and beer
. Oliverstoned had some family appointments so Alucard and me went to a splendid Parissian progrock festival featuring Eclat (very dynamic, excellent Zappa inspired guitar, amazing interplay and varied keyboards, from pitchbend driven synthesizer soli to swinging piano and vibraphone), Sensitive To Light (warm and melodic with a great vocal performance by the very mesmerizing female singer and some sensitive guitar soli) and Quidam (very professional blend of prog, pop and rock with the surprising covers Los Endos, Nights In White Satin, Wish You Were Here and Hush). My only complaint: I will write the mayor of Paris that this venue only sold non-alcoholic beer
.. On the way back to Alucard his home we had a magical midnight view on an illuminated Eiffel Tower because the top was in the clouds, wonderful!
On Sunday we focussed on visiting record stores, I bought KBB Live (exciting violon and swirling Hammond) and a Hawkwind dvd entitled Out Of The Shadows. Finally we visited the glass pyramid in the Louvre and I had my 'croque monsieur'
!
Thanks to Alucard for his excellent guiding
and very pleasant company, we will meet again, also greetings to Oliverstoned, good luck with your new job!"
So after this great travelogue of Erik, the only thing left to do for me is put on some pics, for example the nice pics where Erik and these French girls .... Oh Sorry the pics have unfortunately been deleted, what a shame
... enjoy the rest:
Erik still happy, not knowing that only hours later he would have spend all his hard earned money on Prog CD's & DVD's! Life is hard!
Erik listening to Olivier's instructions on Metro number 4 : "And then you hold your breath until your brain hits the ceiling .."
.BTW look at the contemplative lady to the left of Erik fatally attracted by Erik's pheromen and just waiting to kiss his neck!
Cheese!
More Cheese!
Cheese Nirvana!
No cheese at all...

Erik's new flat, lots of windows to clean so....

That's all folks!
