well i find that alot of symphonic prog bands sound quite cheesy and overproduced to me, but I still like the genre.

Can't you guys tell that he's just another bored newb with nothing
better to do than piss off the prog community, clearly look as his name
and one cannot come to another conclusion. Just the fact that
he knows the big prog bands shows that he is actually just a prog fan
who is messing with you guys to get a funny response, which has worked
so far to his enjoyment. Plus he's a contradicting himself, in
the
beginning he states he has an "utter distaste for the prog genre" and
at the end of his post he's trying to show how Aqua is prog which is
just a complete joke, plus he refers to us as "fellow prog
enthusiasts", usually when someone says "fellow" they are including
themselves within a group which he is doing. Just the fact that
you guys have taken
this
seriously shows your lack of a sense of humor and a failure to
recognize a clear joke when you see one. No offense, but as Ali G
would say "Grow a Brain."

Interesting that in a poll on the BBC internet site, Pink Floyd were voted the best band on Live 8 by nearly 250000 people, 60% of all those who voted.
This suggests that a prog band was better than all the other (so called) titans of modern music, most of whom are so memorable that I can hardly remember any of them or what they played.
You obviously don't like prog. Fine - that's your opinion. I do. So do a hell of a lot of other people. Calling it rudimentary is so laughable I wonder how much you've actually heard (CERTAINLY not Gentle Giant!).
So why don't you go back to your rap or punk or whatever (rubbish?) you listen to and stop trying to be a prat? Then we can get on with serious and important discussion.

I don't think so ... he didn't even include a link to their website, or audio samples.
It is a hilarious attempt at trolling.

My Fellow Prog Enthusiasts.....
i feel that i must show my utter distaste for the prog music genre and the bands that fall under that title. The following bands are ones that isee as highly over-rated and phony; Pink Floid, Rush, Yes, Gentle Giant and King Crimson, the list goes on. The recent performance by Pink FLoiod at Live 8 was quite a spectacle to be mocked, i only hope and pray that they do not go on a full scale world tour as that could prove catastrophic. Which brings me back to my point, prog music is possbily worse than it has ever been, and should consequently be burnt at the stake.
P - Pathetic
R - Rudimentary
O - Over-Rated
G - Go Away
Yours Sincerely, Ben Retter.
p.s For actual quality prog, look for a band callled Aqua, belive it or not, but there are certain elements of prog in some songs.
