let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

Checked the albums I've listened to in 2022 so far, maybe I'm getting old but the top ones for me are by 'regular' offenders (bands I already listen to a ton), not a lot of new discoveries:

Major Parkinson - Valesa Chapter 1 (Very different from what I expected but quite good)
Devin Townsend - Lightworker
Dear Hunter - Antimai (didn't strike strong at first but gets better each listen)

I'm finding that there are only two albums released in 2022 that I want to hear every day: iNFiNiEN's Beyong the Veil and RanestRane's Apocalypse Now. Start to finish, or drop me in during the middle of a song, it doesn't matter: I love these two albums and want to hear them every day. To me, that says something.

Bjorn Riis - Everything to Everyone

Listened to it three times today, and thoroughly enjoyed.

Four albums I've given a 5 (four and a half) stars this year, in no particular order:
Jonas Lindberg & The Other Side - Miles from Nowhere
The Tangent - Songs from the Hard Shoulder
TRK Project - Books that End in Tears (Duets version)
Solace Supplice - Liturgies Contemporaines :-(

Honourable mentions for Pure Reason Revolution, and possibly splitting opinion, Porcupine Tree

Glass Hammer - At The Gate
Jean Michel Jarre - OXYMORE
Evership - The Uncrowned King - Act 2

the JMJ album has the title and all the tracks in CAPITALS for some reason. Anyway it's a good album , way better than the last release
