well, you can check my guitars in the Show Us Your Axe´s post, in tech talk.
But my favorite is the Ibanez SA at the time (it changes quite regularly i think), wich i mainly use (and no, i dont play "technicla Heavy Metal", i play Yes, Genesis and Rush a load in my bands ;) )

That's great. Strats are pretty cool too.

Progmatic has shown my exact guitar. I love the thing but I also love strats. Right now I have a Mexican strat which sounds great but I'm looking for a new one since mine is pretty beat. I also need a large headstock, they just look so cool.

That guitar is so terrible. It has one sound. a really fat heavy sound. And its great for classic rock/ early metal....but thats it!!
It's one sound isnt even that great

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

Schecter is the most underrated guitar company ever!
Thats's my guitar. It's unbelivable! A very full sturdy sound with a strong force because of the humbukers. But it has a 5 way pickup switch to give it an amazing versitility. it stays in great tune no matter how much bending i do, It was intelligently made everywhere form the wood choises, to the placemnet of the neck strap. an over all great sounding guitar. I'd recomend it to anyone with 800$ to spend

yep i would love to have a real chat with you because it sometimes a bit awkward discussing cases on a forum |
maybe, but it's cool for me to read!
Ps - one of the reasons I want a new guitar (to complement my strat, not to replace it) is for the extra frets.

People who play songs which need two octaves. If you want to play stuff by Vai, Satriani, Petrucci etc. you'll need 24 frets or you won't be able to play certain songs correctly.
I just can't understand why they skip the two frets ... the neck pickup isn't even using the space, so it's essentially just wasted.
|
Yea well when i play satriani usually just bend at the 22'nd fret and i dont think that it is very important to play the solos note by note either....Besides who the hell can play vai and petrucci solos correctly that is like a million notes in there
|
Try to play Eugene's Trickbag: He bends the E string 24th fret and additionally uses the vibrato bar to raise it even further (to a high A).
BTW: I agree that there are many people who can do fine with 21 or 22 frets ... but it's just ridiculous to offer a guitar with an insanely good vibrato system ideally suited for Vai and Satriani stuff ... and then leave out the last 2 frets. All the RG guitars have 24 frets, all ESPs (except some Gibson-clones) have 24 frets.
|
Ah well then you would have to downtune then
But ofcourse if you play metal stuff im sure it is nice to have 24 frets although i would prefer if 24 fret necks where a bit longer...besides have you tried the progarchives chat? im on there now and bored

Either go for yamaha for very cheap then fender or gibson for guitars that sound REAL...
| That's what I want, though - a guitar which is more accessible to shredding and/or metal, ie, quick/thin neck, low action, and a good distortion sound.
What bugs me about Ibanez guitars is that there are so damn many different models of the same guitar! People say "try an RG", but I go to the store, and there are like 10 different RGs, ranging from about $300 - $3000! Very confusing imo. |
I recently bought an ESP ... I loved the Ibanez Saber series but those morons only offer them with 22 frets. You have the wonderful ZR vibrato system with the d-tuner, just the pickups that I like and a not too thin neck with xl frets ... but only 22 of them.

yes i have tried about 300-400 different guitars in my life and usually play every guitar there is in a guitar shop...so it takes some hours but well worth it because a guitar that costs $3000 might be very crappy while the $300 can be bloody good...so just test them all...gibsons.fender ibanez and Esp's and so on and take the one you like...besides music man makes bloody good shredding guitars
