 While these threads are pretty annoying, I'd rather have this than a PM or email asking "WHY CAN I NO POST THREAD?!1!??". Those threads usually generate some comical discussion anyway and are usually merged with other threads or locked anyway.

Hello everyone!
The admin team has decided, due to the easy spam management tools in the new forum software, to eliminate the "Forum Newbie (<5 Posts)" user group. This means that all users, no matter how many posts they have, can create new threads in all forums. There seems to be an increase in the number of users who would like to start discussion threads, and we believe that this will be a way to increase discussion and forum participation. The admins will closely monitor whether the amount of spam on the forum increases due to this change, and if a significant amount of spam appears, the user group may be re-instated. Forum newbies still cannot vote in polls until they become Forum groupies, however. Here is the list of the "ladder groups" on the forum.
Points are awarded via this system:
4- and 5-stars are awarded to users selected by the admins for constructive contribution to the site. See here for more on how to be promoted. Feel free to discuss this change and offer any constructive criticism or ideas for how to improve the ladder group system. Edited by Andy Webb - April 06 2015 at 20:46 |
