Well, Scotland can create chances for sure... if only... Please beat England, that would put some excitement into the group!

Good on you, we Scots need all the support we can get. Our style (or lack thereof) is not pretty to watch. We are a bit like Stoke City but wearing dark blue, capable only of wearing teams down with attritional running and defensive organisation. That said, we do have some quality in Kieran Tierney, Andy Robertson, John McGinn and erm...

They will probably win the group, but I don't see them up there with the likes of France, Belgium, Portugal, Italy. Netherlands vs Ukraine was the best entertainment yet even though as a German I hate to see the Dutch win.

^There are so many great players on the that English team, that people expect a lot from them...and rightfully so.

Yes, unconvincing but very valuable win for England. Very nice goal and bottled up Croatia well. England can certainly play better. Phew.

Croatia had a few moments in the match, but they didnīt have much in terms of offensive actions. Once the nightmare first 25 minutes were over, they played a pretty disciplined defensive match, and as England wasnīt that impressive in the offense either, this match could well have enden 0-0. A great pass/assist from Phillips to Sterling though...now that was pure class

Once 1-0 up, England played it more intelligently than in the World Cup, and Croatia was missing some of the spark they had, and Mandzukic.

Of course I didnīt mean any contact is foul play. This one was an illegal contact though in the goal area, and naturally the judge...and the VAR room deemed it a penalty. Iīm not sure why weīre even disgussing this .

Once more Croatia seem to create some headache for England, despite England having dominated the first 15 minutes big time. I like this. Edit: Well, this was the wrong moment to write it for sure... Edited by Lewian - June 13 2021 at 08:16 |

Exactly non-contact football would be a dreadful game

Contact alone doesn't make it a foul. The rules say
It could also be dangerous play, however there's no rule that states that a contact makes a foul if the referee thinks none of these other things is the case.

Beyond happy that Eriksen is ALIVE! Wishing him a full recovery.
BTW, I also support North Macedonia. That region is where my grandparents are from. Forgot to mention it in my original post. |

Contact is contact. If Poulsenīs foot was hit by Arajuriīs thigh in the tacke the rules says itīs a penalty. The judge and the VAR team ruled that it was a penalty...so Iīm pretty sure there was a contact (I saw it with my own eyes too). It doesnīt really matter now though as Højbjerg missed the penalty kick. Most Danes donīt think much about the game now, but only the health and well being of Christian Eriksen. That was some of the most unpleasant TV Iīve watched in a while. Thankfully my son is old enough to understand what happened, but he still cried.

I was at work this evening, so I didn't get to see what had happened with Christian Eriksen. I only read about it during my breaks. It must have been shocking to witness. Hope he will recover. The city of Aarhus (where I live) was full of football fans. It must have been a strange experience for them too.
